In real life, I am a psychologist/psychotherapist, and it is a pretty intense job. As I have worked in the field for almost 30 years, I have always looked for activities that would help me keep my life more balanced and stave off burnout. For many years I was an avid weightlifter, a hiker and on-and-off runner. After moving to Seattle almost 10 years ago, I threw myself into running. I have done at least a half marathon per year for the last 9 years. 3-4 years ago, when I was training for my second full marathon, I decided to start doing some cross-training by adding some biking and swimming. This led to my first indoor I55 triathlon in 2015. Since then, I have quickly been moving more towards triathlon (though I still do my annual half marathon). I started with a handful of indoor triathlons, and since then I have done a few Sprint distance and one Olympic distance triathlons.

This year’s journey started when I bought a Wahoo Kickr and realized I could do serious training indoors during the winter. That led me to TriDot, and that led me to sign up for my first 70.3 this summer at Chelanman. I have always been a 3-4 day/week workout kind of guy, and this system has completely changed the way I train. I am feeling fitter, at age 51, than almost any time in my life thanks to TriDot
