TriDot Normalizes Weather Changes for Better Triathlon Training

In 2015, I moved from Nebraska to Texas. Like most moves, it brought a tremendous amount of change.

At the same time, I was in the midst of training for my first IRONMAN and coming up on some key workouts in race preparation. I was not only moving my belongings, I was also taking months of solid improvements into the intense Texas summers.

The heat and humidity were nearly intolerable. But what I found worse than these environmental factors was the mental stress I experienced when I was unable to hit my previous training paces. This change was as intolerable as the temperature.

I knew and understood my pace would change in hotter weather, but I didn’t know how much it should. Was I going too slowly? Or was I pushing too hard in these conditions? How could I monitor my progress in these harsh conditions?  It was clear this wasn’t Nebraska. I had to change my perspective.

TriDot immensely benefited me in adapting to the Texas environment. It’s a revolutionary approach on many levels that requires you to change how you think about triathlon training.

TriDot incorporates environmental normalization, or “ENorm” technology, into daily training and workout plans. It takes the guesswork out of pacing. TriDot recognizes your pace is different in 75 degrees versus 95 degrees or 50% humidity versus 80% humidity.

TriDot workouts focus on duration and intensity. They’re designed according to the athlete’s age, biometrics, sport experience, current fitness level, TriDot Scores, and training stress profile. When athletes create their profile, they identify their geographical location. Based on the athlete’s location, training paces are automatically modified to fit the current weather.

Traveling for business? On vacation? No problem. Athletes can manually input their location or heat and humidity factors to find their specific training paces for that day’s workout.

By incorporating environmental factors into training, TriDot athletes train at an appropriate pace that maximizes the effectiveness of each training session.

It’s optimized training thanks in part to environmental normalization. And it delivers better results in up to 30% less training time.
